Description
Marie Chouinard’s latest work will come to Stuttgart: 20 years after her global success BODY_rEMIX/gOLDBERG_vARIATIONS, which is now being presented in the revised version BodyremixRemix (2025), the Canadian icon is returning to Johann Sebastian Bach with MAGNIFICAT. The Latin choral work is imbued with the divine, as the Virgin Mary speaks to us with a jubilant, passionate and enraptured voice. She is heavily pregnant, blissful and fulfilled. Marie Chouinard choreographs the individual movements of the “Magnificat” as noble entities interconnected in the same space-time: mostly involving larger group segments but also trios, duets and solos. It is a piece full of grace and one that forms a stark contrast to the deconstruction of pointe-shoe ballet through crutches, prostheses, bars presented in BodyremixRemix, a fascinating exaggeration and questioning of the human form. This classic work, which thrilled the whole world in 2005, is more exciting than ever!
Duration: approx. 75 minutes with intermission
